Zillow Gone Wild is known for featuring an array of unique homes to its credit—including everything from Gatsby-worthy mansions to a home with its own water park—but one of its last features has something we’ve definitely not seen in any home before. The house is proud of a bathroom that no one else has, but four toilets. While Beautiful house Not exactly advocating this weird kind of design decision (after all, why would you possibly need several toilets in one bathroom?), we did some investigation and found out how this design choice came about.

Known as Hawthorne House, this estate was built in 1851 by the Fowle family and is currently listed for $450,000. It worked as a farmhouse for about 70-80 years, before being donated to Girl Scouts of the USA in the 1920s or 1930s, according to listing agent Jane D. Christopher.

With six bedrooms and three bathrooms, the 3,913-square-foot property looks like a standard single-family residence from the outside, but of course, it’s hard to look beyond the four bathrooms once you see them. It turns out that it was the Girl Scouts who added these facilities – which makes sense. As a former Girl Scout, I know how big one squad can be (the average is about eight to twelve girls in total), and I imagine living in the same house because many people need more toilets (and sinks) than the average your residence.

Some other interesting anecdotes about this house? The Girl Scouts who once lived here had President Hubert Hoover’s wife, Lou, out for tea – and the dwelling is rumored to have also been part of the Underground Railroad.

Today, the unique home is owned by Kaley Wittnik, the hair and makeup artist who bought the pillow two years ago, with plans to turn it into an Airbnb and/or mixed-use property. Since then, she’s restored the house while keeping its historic integrity, adding more modern elements such as a vibrant gallery wall that serves as a backdrop for the infamous toilets.

If, for whatever reason, you’re in the market for a home with four toilets in one, you can find the list — maintained by Jane D. Christopher of Mahler Sotheby’s International — here.
